Designing a seamless, user friendly donation process to support an innovative conservation project.
The Millennium Seed Bank (MSB) is a project run by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Over the past 10 years more than 3.5 billion seeds from nearly 30,000 species have been collected and stored.
To support the MSB, the Kew Foundation needed a user friendly donation system that allowed customers to adopt a seed or a species online. The system needed to enable customers to adopt a seed for themselves or to give it as a gift for others. Then trigger the creation of a personalised, branded adoption certificate.
The site was launched just before Christmas, and the online donation process has already proved a success. It’s super simple to adopt online for yourself, friends or family. You can preview the certificate and Pixl8 are really pleased with the ability to adopt multiple seeds or species within the same order, which has already proved very popular.
Once the order is completed and paid for using the seamless payment integration, a gift email is sent to the recipient with a link to a high quality PDF ready to frame on the wall. The purchaser also gets a confirmation of the complete order for their records.
The team back at Kew HQ can export all the orders into a file ready to import the data into their internal systems so they can keep in touch in the future.
