Glasgow City Region's groundbreaking community benefits hub earns national recognition with double award shortlisting

We're delighted to share that the Glasgow City Region Community Benefits Hub, built on the Preside platform, has been shortlisted for prestigious awards at both national and regional levels, recognising its transformative impact on social value delivery.

The innovative platform has been shortlisted for two categories at the UK-wide Social Value Awards - Public Sector Leadership and Enabling Technology - while also earning recognition at Scotland's Go Awards for public sector procurement in the Excellence in Social Value category.

Transforming social value delivery through technology
The Community Benefits Hub is an online service which aims to connect communities and businesses in Glasgow City Region to deliver real benefits for local people, representing a significant leap forward in how social value is delivered through public procurement.

Careful scoping and development has created the UK's first region-wide community wish list system. The team worked collaboratively with stakeholders to create a digital solution that truly puts communities at the heart of community benefits delivery.
 
A collaborative approach to innovation
 
The project required extensive stakeholder engagement to ensure the platform met the diverse needs of three key user groups:
 
Communities - providing them with an accessible way to make their needs known and putting them at the centre of the community benefits process 
Suppliers - making it simple for businesses to discover local, relevant and needs-based opportunities to give back 
 
Council staff - delivering significant time savings while providing improved collaboration channels across departments and councils
 

Since launching in 2024, the Hub has fundamentally transformed how social value in procurement delivers tangible benefits for communities across the region.

Delivering measurable impact

The results speak for themselves. According to Glasgow City Region themselves: 
"The Hub has transformed how social value in procurement delivers tangible benefits for communities. The Hub also provides access to support for smaller community groups, and public services have benefitted from a streamlined process that saves staff time and improves collaboration across departments and councils."

The platform delivers an easy-to-use website that provides access to region-wide support, creating "a more inclusive system that is delivering measurable impact for communities."

These award nominations highlight the potential for technology to transform how public sector organisations deliver social value. The Community Benefits Hub stands as an exemplar of what's possible when innovative technology meets collaborative stakeholder engagement and a clear focus on community needs.
