Our Story
20 years of delivering digital ambitions
Founded in 2001 by Alex Skinner & Neil Rosewarn, Pixl8 has grown to a team of 80+ , delivering websites and digital platforms for over 200 membership organisations and associations. Their unique approach and ethos has created a friendly and professional team who work collaboratively with long-standing clients to deliver exceptional digital services.
How it all began
After graduation, we were both fired-up by the potential opportunities that the fast-paced digital revolution presented. With our complementary skill sets in information systems and design, it was fantastic to see how our digital start-up attracted challenging and inspiring projects right from the offset.
Some of our initial projects included work for General Motors, Polaroid, University of Gloucestershire, Arup and The British Psychological Society. This meant that we were exposed to the needs of membership organisations, right from the start.
An evolving specialism
During these early years, we observed how digital solutions could swiftly change business models – the potential to use digital to make a significant impact is something we continue to be excited by.
As we began to win more projects with a loyalty or membership focus, we honed our specialisms to really serve the needs of organisations in these sectors. We are and always have been open to new challenges; but these sectors are fascinating and complex from a business and systems perspective. This is our sweet spot.
Growing a team
As business owners, we have never felt constrained by what our company should be. Our aim has always been to create a culture and environment that values both people and ideas.
It's so pleasing to see how we have grown and developed the team over the years – we're now 60+ strong.
A winning mix
Pixl8 have a well established presence; we can deliver sophisticated solutions, while offering something more personal than a large-scale agency.
We know what it takes to get projects successfully over the line – for us a trusted and collaborative process between clients, our staff and other third parties, brings great satisfaction all round. We pride ourselves in giving our clients added value with every project.
Our solutions are very much bespoke – every project is unique and distinct. This makes life interesting for our staff, while delivering standout creative and technical solutions for our clients. So, for example, our websites will never be obviously recognisable, as we do not offer clients downloadable options with a change of colours.
"It is fantastic to see that our business model has proven itself to be sustainable; the future is definitely bright."
Future facing
We haven’t realised our full potential. There are so many worthwhile organisations to work with. We are fundamentally problem-solvers and have a firm belief that organisations should expect more.
With experience, the challenges and opportunities that clients face usually have broad similarities – raising brand awareness and developing audience understanding of brands and products; boosting customer engagement, increasing income and driving more interactions online.
The ever-changing digital environment continues to present more options for us to consider and convert back into solutions for our clients. We can bring meaning to the zeitgeist theme of digital transformation and we relish the potential to exploit the potential of emerging opportunities like a Custom Data Platform (CDP).
We see ourselves as a re-startup – as a team we have a pioneering spirit coupled with matured experience.
"The question for us has always been and continues to be 'Why not?'"
